Championing Malawi's
visual arts heritage.
The Visual Arts Association of Malawi is a national non-profit association for fine artists and hand crafts in Malawi.
A unified voice for artists since 2013.
VAAM was established in 2013 by dedicated visual artists who recognised the need for a unified body to represent and promote the interests of Malawi's creative community. It is incorporated under the Trustees Incorporation Act of the Laws of Malawi, Chapter 5:03.
From its registered office at Claim Mabuku, Top Floor, Haile Selasie Road in Blantyre, VAAM serves artists across the Southern, Central, Northern, and Eastern regions through exhibitions, workshops, regional chapter activities, and the online marketplace.
Mission
To develop standards of excellence, increase competence, and support study, education, and research in visual arts; while promoting heritage and protecting artists' rights and interests.
Vision
To be the leading force in promoting, publishing, and disseminating Malawi's visual arts research and findings, while working with organisations that share our objectives.
Values
Excellence, integrity, inclusivity, and cultural preservation guide our work. We believe visual arts can transform lives, preserve heritage, and build stronger communities.
National leadership, regional presence.
The VAAM Executive consists of the President, Vice President, General Secretary, Vice Secretary, and Treasurer, elected by the National General Assembly for three-year terms.
Dedicated regional chapters operate in the Southern, Central, Northern, and Eastern regions. Regional chairpersons serve on the National Executive Committee, while local committees coordinate activities, workshops, events, membership, fundraising, and education.
